School Days Are Here Again

As students here around our Florida-based office enjoy a weeklong vacation for Spring Break, our Kailash Kids are hard at work in their studies, and following two years of tumult, we are happy to see them back in regular in-person classes. Education has always been one of the main objectives of HYF, and we remain committed to supporting our Kailash Kids at every level from primary school, to secondary education, to vocational colleges and traditional universities. We know that this investment and focus has the potential to set each and every child on the path to lifelong success.

As Kailash alum Jayang Wnagdue (Class of 2015) recently shared with us,

"I read this line somewhere, happiness is an exclusive feeling and it definitely begins with a home, and unsurprisingly, as I look back and contemplate on the 24 years of my life, I am certain that my experience as a student and a member of the Kailash Family will be one amongst the happiest phases of my life โ€” a time when I was nurtured to grow, evolve, and adapt. Kailash was, is, and will forever be a place that I'll call home. I feel so blessed and lucky to have been able to pursue my Undergraduate studies with the everlasting support of HYF and an undeniably unconditional love from my sponsors/parents.โ€

According to the United Nations 2019 Annual Report, at current rates 420 million of the 1.4 billion school-aged children in low- and middle-income countries will not have learned basic skills by 2030 and 825 million will not acquire basic secondary-level skills, and these statistics were projected before a global pandemic caused over two years of disruptions for students worldwide. Those realities reaffirm the importance of our focus on education and our pride in the hard work of not only our students, but the staff of Kailash and our alumni mentors as well.
