At HYF, we believe that ALL children deserve access to a safe and high quality education

Providing a quality education has been a pillar of the work of HYF from the beginning of the foundation over 20 years ago. According to the UNICEF 2023 Annual Report, “while the global number of out-of-school children fell by 9 million from 2015-2021, it has increased by 6 million since then…Two thirds of 10-year-olds cannot read a simple story or do basic math. This reality reaffirm the importance of our focus on education. Kailash Home, in addition to providing a safe and loving home base, also ensures that every single one of our 100 children are enrolled in primary and secondary school until they graduate and leave Kailash. Many of our children then continue their educational journeys at vocational school or university.

Primary - Grades 1 to 8

From the time they arrive at Kailash at age 5 or 6, our children begin primary school in Kathmandu. Working with several local schools, HYF and our Nepali partners place each child in the appropriate classroom where they can learn and be surrounded by peers their age. From basic language and math to English lessons, every one of our children receives a comprehensive early education.

Secondary - Grades 9 to 12

Following completion of Grade 8 education, our Kailash Kids transfer to one of our partner secondary schools where they continue their education in traditional subjects and English studies. They also have the opportunity to engage in additional extracurriculars with their schoolmates.

University & More

Though our students leave Kailash Home upon completion of Grade 12, many go on to pursue secondary education. Through dedicated fundraisers and the continuing generosity of a number of longterm sponsors, HYF continues to support students financially through their completion of University or Vocational School.
